Michigan Tourism Projected to Rise

Good news for residents of Lansing. Not quite sure if you have noticed, by tourism has been down as of late, but here’s where the good news comes in. Michigan State University researchers at Pure Michigan Governor’s Conference on Tourism in Kalamazoo are predicting a 4 percent increase in tourism spending and a 3 percent rise in tourism volume and prices.

This is based on tourism spending in the past few years. 2010 tourism spending approached $16 billion while 2009 was around $15 billion. This is nowhere near the $18.7 billion in 2006, but it is still a sign that things may be on the upswing. While the year may have just started, here’s hoping for a healthy tourism season these upcoming summer months in Lansing and throughout the rest of Michigan.
