What city do you think of when you think of affordable housing? Lansing? If you do then you’re right! This city has been nationally recognized for its affordability. A report from wlns cited a CNN Money survey of the top ten most affordable housing markets which revealed that Lansing ranked No. 2 and another Michigan city, Grand Rapids, ranked No. 9. The CNN report found said that you can get a nice home in Lansing for less than $82,000, with median housing prices at about $65,000. Laurie Koelling of the Greater Lansing Association of Realtors commented, “I would never imagine in my real estate career that you could go out and find a home for $10,000 or $20,000. At this point there's 160 homes that are under $30,000. That's pretty amazing. There are homes to be had and they're not all scary. They're homes that we could live in, fix up and make presentable."
